Lee Jong Hyun of CNBLUE and G.O of MBLAQ are both idol stars who have turned into actors by accepting supporting roles in SBS dramas like, “A Gentleman’s Dignity” and “Ghost.”
In the entertainment business these days, it’s hard to find a single K-Pop idol group member who hasn’t made an attempt to pursue their acting careers on top of their singing careers. Also, it’s almost impossible to name a drama that isn’t starred by an idol group member. More and more, idol stars are taking on the roles of supporting roles with substance rather than main roles that come with an intense amount of pressure. One by one, idol stars are starting from scratch and taking on small roles to build their foundations, which will eventually lead them to greater success later on.
CNBLUE’s Lee Jong Hyun and MBLAQ’s G.O are two idol stars who recently stepped foot in the industry. Lee Jong Hyun appears in the SBS drama “A Gentleman’s Dignity” and G.O appears in the SBS drama “Ghost.” Although Lee Jong Hyun has prior experience from appearing in a movie a few years back, his role in “A Gentleman’s Dignity” is considered to be his official step into his acting career.
Although both Lee Jong Hyun and G.O’s roles in the dramas are not very big, both of their characters play a crucial role whenever there is a climax. One other thing to keep in mind is the fact that both their acting skills are significantly more skilled than what anybody expected from their first acting roles.
In the SBS weekend drama “A Gentleman’s Dignity,” Lee Jong Hyun plays the character named Collin, who is Kim Do Jin’s (Jang Dong Gun) son. Although Lee Jong Hyun’s role was small from the very beginning, he had a very big impact in the storyline with his mysterious appearance and questionable history.
With his exotic appearance, Lee Jong Hyun was able to take on the role of Collin who is portrayed as a mysterious and handsome bad-boy character. Among countless other idol stars that began their acting careers, Lee Jong Hyun drew attention from drama viewers for his stable and convincing acting that stands out from the rest. Lee Jong Hyun is even gaining popularity from older female drama viewers who have no idea who CNBLUE is.
