Idol band CNBLUE has recently been notable in their performances in dramas, rather than their music.
CNBLUE members Jung Yong Hwa (Vocals), Kang Min Hyuk (Drums), Lee Jong Hyun (Vocals, Guitar) and Lee Jung Shin (Bass and Rap) have all debuted or are expecting their debuts. They have created solid characters with continual projects. They seem to have endless potential as both a band and a group of actors. An insider said, “CNBLUE is forming an image outside of their band and becoming very unique as each individual members. They are in the process of developing as both an actor and a singer.”
Jung Yong Hwa, who was the first to get into acting, is now considered lead material. In ”You’re Beatiful,” he showed off stable acting and in “Heartstrings“ he was the male lead next to Park Shin Hye.
Kang Min Hyuk is finding good footing. In 2010, he appeared in the movie “Acoustic” with Lee Jonghyun and the drama, “It’s Alright Daddy’s Daughter” and continued onto ”Heartstrings“ and “My Husband Got a Family.” He really became familiar to the audiences with his role in “My Husband Got a Family“ as Cha Se Kwang. Lee Jong Hyun debuted in “A Gentleman’s Dignity” successfully and Lee Jung Shin will soon debut in KBS weekend drama “My Daughter Seo Young.”
Much of CNBLUE‘s success is due to their foundations as a band. FNC Entertainment’s general manager Jung Jin Hyuk stated, “It was right to not rush into acting. We waited a long time for the right project and the right character. Because they were such prolific singers, there was no rush to have to debut as actors and we took our time.”
All the members also started as supporting roles in projects that were likely to be successful. Jung Jin Hyuk added, “Because they went through the trial and error period as supporting actors, they understood what acting was. They have also been practicing as a band and we tried to make sure that the projects they were taking on on top were the right ones.”
